Structure of Medical Education in Nepal

Degree: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.)
Duration: 5.5 years including internship
Affiliations/Recognition: Recognised by WHO (World Health Organisation), MCI (Medical Council of India)
Eligibility:

  • Completed 17 years of age, and
  • Completed 10+2 years of education or Intermediate of Science or equivalent, with English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects and he/she must have passed in all the subjects mentioned above.
  • Must have minimum 50% of marks in the subjects mentioned above put together and also obtain an aggregate of 50% overall.

Cost of MBBS education: 30 lakhs INR to 45 lakhs INR

A lot many medical colleges in Nepal are approved by MCI and the curriculum is quite similar to the one followed in Indian Counterparts.

Road construction is difficult because of mountainous terrain. Majority of people need to travel to reach main roads.

Since, the curriculum is similar to the one in India, there is a possibility of high pass percentage in MCI screening test.

 

Food habits, culture and lifestyle is matched to a high extent with India.

 
Unlike other countries, there is no requirement for visa to travel to Nepal.  
The communication would be at ease since it would be in English and Hindi.  
Seperate hostels for boys & girls are located in the campus area itself.  
There are a lot many faculties belonging to India.  
Since the fees can be paid in installments, it is quite beneficial for students and parents.
